The virtual accompanist.
Clara lets directors and singers rehearse with confidence – instantly playing any vocal line from beautiful sheet music on iPad and web. Designed for the institutions that make choral music thrive.
Only 27% of music teacher recruitment targets were met in 2024. Many schools and churches want to offer outstanding singing but struggle to find directors who can lead rehearsals effectively.
Thousands of talented singers and teachers have the musical skill and passion – but not the piano technique – to teach notes confidently in rehearsal.
High-quality choral experiences remain out of reach for too many young people. The result is lost potential for both singers and the future of choral music.
Schools, churches and community organisations carry the responsibility of keeping choral tradition alive, often with limited resources and support.
It plays any vocal line the moment a director needs it. Beautifully. On iPad in the rehearsal room and on the web for planning and home practice. Institutions get the support they need without depending on piano skills that aren’t always available.
Play soprano, alto, tenor or bass on demand from high-quality sheet music. Directors can focus on musical leadership instead of struggling at the piano.
Clara follows phrasing and dynamics so the accompaniment feels alive and responsive – exactly what the director and singers need in the moment.
Generate clear, musical rehearsal tracks for singers in seconds. No waiting, no expensive custom recordings, no last-minute stress.
A native experience on iPad during rehearsal. The same music and tracks available on any web browser for planning and individual practice.
Give every music teacher – specialist or not – the ability to lead outstanding vocal rehearsals. More students, more confident singing.
Strengthen your music programme even when accompanists are scarce. Help the next generation of singers grow in skill and confidence.
Lead with musical authority in every session. Change lines, adjust pacing, and support singers without the piano ever becoming the bottleneck.
Practice with clarity and musicality at home. The same tracks and scores used in rehearsal are available for individual work.
Clara exists so that schools, churches and communities can offer exceptional choral experiences – without being limited by who happens to play the piano well.
Two million choral singers in the UK alone. Tens of millions more across Europe and North America. The institutions that serve them deserve modern tools.
Clara is being tested in pilots with forward-thinking schools and organisations. We are not yet open to the general public. If you lead a choral programme and want to explore what’s possible, we’d love to hear from you.
Britain’s choral tradition is extraordinary. Clara helps the organisations that keep it alive to do so with greater consistency and reach.
When directors can lead without friction, more young people discover the joy and discipline of singing together. That matters for the future of the art form.
Kristin Polman is a choral singer and conductor. With degrees in molecular biology and medicine, she spent over fifteen years working in digital health and innovation before returning to her first love – choral music. She is currently completing a Masters in Vocal Performance at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Based in London, Kristin is building Clara to solve a problem she has felt acutely as both a singer and a director: the piano should never be the reason a choir cannot thrive.
Clara is currently available through pilots with institutions. If you lead singing at a school, church, or community organisation, we would be delighted to explore a pilot with you.
